OPENFOAM TRAINING

The Pawsey Supercomputing Centre is organising an OpenFoam training during the week prior to the 20th AFMC conference.

The training will be run for five days, from Monday 28th November to Friday 2nd December 2016, from 9am to 5pm.

The event will be facilitated by ESIgroup. Sessions will be held at The University of Western Australia.

Registration to the course is independent to the conference.

DELTARES NUMERICAL MODELLING COURSES

Deltares is proud to organize a number of introductory numerical modelling courses around the 20th Australasian Fluid Mechanics Conference (AFMC) at the University of Western Australia in Perth.

Introduction in Hydrodynamic Modelling with Delft3D Flexible Mesh – 8/9 December 2016

The new Delft3D Flexible Mesh Suite (Delft3D FM) can simulate storm surges, typhoons / cyclones, tsunamis, detailed flows and water levels, waves, sediment transport and morphology, water quality and ecology and is capable of handling the interactions between these processes in 1D, 2D and 3D.

This introductory course will focus on the new functionalities of Delft3D-FM in comparison to Delft3D 4, including:
- introduction in grid generation for flexible grids,
- introduction on bathymetry interpolation,
- set-up of a hydrodynamic model,
- introduction in post-processing

The course will run on 8 December (afternoon) and 9 December (full day), the course fee is 900 AUD (excl. GST) for a 1.5 days course.

Introduction in Storm Impact Modelling with XBeach (10 December 2016)*

XBeach is an open-source two-dimensional model for (sea-swell) wave propagation, long waves and mean flow, sediment transport and morphological changes of the nearshore area, beaches, dunes and back barrier during storms. In recent years a number of additional functionalities have been developed, including sediment transport on gravel coasts and wave dynamics along tropical (e.g. coral, vegetated) coastlines.

This introductory course will focus on the theory behind the model and the basics of setting up an XBeach model. The course will run on 10 December*, the course fee is 600 AUD (excl. GST).

* Please note that this course will only run in case of sufficient participants
